Music Enhancements

Our music curriculum is enhanced through employing a music specialist to work with all children to develop their singing each week.

In Year 4 all children are able to learn an instrument and have weekly tuition from a music specialist and perform a concert for their parents at the end of the year. Currently the ukulele is the preferred instrument.

The children also have the opportunity to learn an instrument through individual music lessons, led by Tafelmusik. The range of instruments recently being taught are piano, flute, violin, guitar and saxophone.

Music Clubs

We are very keen to provide the children with a wide range of extra-curricular opportunities as part of our extended provision, which reflects the various interests of the children. These clubs take place during lunchtime and after school and we try to ensure that all year groups can access music clubs during the year.

Events

Many performances by the children are planned throughout the year both in school and at external venues. Watching others perform is also important; Pop Project, Liverpool Philharmonic, Young Voices Choir, Jeff Rich (Status Quo) drumming workshop, African drumming workshop, Floral Pavilion Theatre visit etc. Explore the gallery below to view some examples of the fabulous music that is embedded in to school life at Great Meols Primary.
