Would you like to benefit from high quality on-the-job training and become a fully-qualified primary school teacher?

Our school is part of a growing number of schools leading the way for more school-led post-graduate (PGCE) teacher training. This is really important to us because it means we can choose the very best talent and develop them into teachers. Being able to choose who we train as teachers helps us in delivering the best outcomes for our pupils.

Great Meols Primary School Initial Teacher Training will mean a placement in one of the following schools, all graded at least good in their most recent OFSTED inspection:  Great Meols Primary School, Church Drive Primary SchoolEgremont Primary SchoolPoulton Lancelyn Primary SchoolSt. Andrew’s C of E Primary School or Stanton Road Primary School. We are a close network of successful schools, working in partnership with Liverpool John Moores University (LJMU) to provide trainees with a PGCE qualification. We offer high quality training from school leaders across the network, fully trained mentors, regular chances to learn with other trainees, a good balance of practical and theoretical experience and help and support when you are ready to start applying for jobs.

We're looking for people and we would be very interested to hear from you if you are thinking of becoming a teacher. We’re looking for people who

  • have (or will have) a degree
  • want to learn
  • have a passion for teaching
  • want to inspire young people to fulfil their potential

This training would be suited to university graduates, people wanting a career change or anyone interested in having a career that makes a difference.

We’d love you to come and find out more about the exciting teacher training opportunities available. We will be holding open evening events later this term - dates will be announced soon. These events will include a presentation led by LJMU, besides being an opportunity to meet some of the headteachers and find out more.

We can also provide you with support and guidance on your application form and offer you school experience if you just want a taster of what teaching could be like.
